Born in Rivoli (Turin - Italy) in 1971, Norman Tacchi works and lives in Val di Susa where he manages his photo studio since 1995.
Tacchi: “I attended my first photography course at the experimental elementary school. Since then, the love for this art have never abandoned me. “I feel a strong need to see the emotion of the subject within a photograph. I have a strong preference portraying female models, because of their vulnerability, shapes and emotion. I ‘am always trying to capture someone’s essence, to create character portraits. To reveal character, I capture hidden hopes and inner strength, revealing that authentic and vulnerable human being behind it, and show the deeply inner light that shines within. It is an honest approach, and I think that a good connection between model and photographer creates the best images.
My goal is to show the inherent character of my model and trying to make the person at ease, so she is free to express her selves. This is often at the expense of aesthetics alone, but I think it’s more satisfying like this. Because most of my work is in black and white photography, I paint with light and shadow. In that way I communicate an emotion more than the reproduction only.
